My Social Justice Hero: bell hooks
bell hooks is one of the barriers that protects us from “segregation”, “name-calling”, and “disrespect”. A social justice hero is someone who fights for human rights. Our job, as students, is to write about our heroes that deserve a national holiday. “bell hooks” is a lowercase name because hooks wanted people to distinguish the difference between her and her grandmother. She fights for rights. I believe bell hooks deserves a national holiday because she is loyal, ambitious, and tenacious.
The first character trait that makes hooks worthy of a holiday is “loyal”. She is loyal because she defends those who are brutalized and speaks out the importance of others including gays, blacks, females, black females, etc…. This is being loyal since she is supporting others. As you can tell, hooks is a very loyal person that deserves a national holiday.
A better character trait that describes hooks as a worthy person is “ambitious”. Hooks is ambitious because she wrote over thirty books about human rights. She also gave a speech about the consequences of violence. Holidays should be given out to ambitious beings like bell hooks.
The best word to describe hooks as a hero is “tenacious”. This woman is tenacious for the reason that follows. After she gave the speech, she was booed at with disapproval but it did not changed her feelings. Another experience that proves hooks is tenacious is she was bullied for being “black” but stayed focused on her studies. Being tenacious is the number one reason why I believe hooks deserves a holiday.
In my outlook, bell hooks is a social justice hero who deserves a national holiday. I believe this because she is loyal, ambitious, and tenacious. Remember this the next you think about people with holidays. Take the initiative and spread the word about those who deserve a holiday. Be one to help somebody who helped others. bell hooks, my hero, deserves to be recognized.
