Social Justice Hero: Nelson Mandela
Do you believe Nelson Mandela should have a national holiday? A social justice hero is a person who helps people. Nelson Mandela was a president of South Africa at one point of time. Nelson Mandela should ha a national holiday because he’s brave, smart, and a leader.
First, one reason why he should have a national holiday because he is brave. Nelson Mandela spent the first 18 of his 27 years in jail at the brutal robber island prison. As a black prisoner he received scantier rations and fewer privileges than other inmates. The arrest of Nelson Mandela in July he was with a racially diverse group of Martin Luther King leaders who gathered together to debate. This shows how he’s brave and why he should have a holiday.
My next reason is that he is smart. He was the first in his family to receive a formal Mandela completed his primary studied at a local missionary school. In 1939 Mandela entered the elite university of Fort Hare, the only western style higher learning institute for South Africa slacks at a time. Nelson Mandela is also smart. He did so many intelligent things that he should have his own holiday.
In addition Nelson Mandela is a leader also. As, president Mandela established the truth and regonalation commission by investigate human rights and political violations committed by both supporters and opponents of apartheid between 1960 to 1994. Nelson Mandela commitment to politics and the A.N.C grew stronger after 1948. Mandela should have a natural holiday, he shows leadership, and do you think so?
All in all, because of Mandela’s contributions he should have a national holiday because of his bravery, smartness, and leadership. I think Nelson Mandela should have a national holiday. As he would say “It always seems impossible until it’s done”.
